Geeky seamstress with too many ideas and not enough time. Costumes, cosplay, reading, cooking, crafting.
We are getting all the new patterns this week – the spring McCall’s patterns have also been announced! I feel like I’ve been a bit disappointed by the Big4 patterns lately, but not so here – I want to buy all the things! There’s a lot to see so let’s take a look: M7927 – … More McCall’s Spring 2019
The May issue of BurdaStyle Magazine has been announced, and it looks like the Burda tradition of the May “dress” issue is back! When I first leaned about BurdaStyle Magazine (nearly a decade ago!), the May issue was always full of spring and summer dresses, but I feel that has somewhat lessened in recent years. … More May 2019 BurdaStyle Magazine
The latest patterns from Kwik Sew have been released. Aside from the one swimsuit pattern, which is actually really cute, the whole release is so boring I really don’t have much commentary to add. But, regardless, here is the latest from Kwik Sew: K4263 – The swimsuit is pretty cute! Love the top. The cover … More Kwik Sew Patterns Spring/Summer 2019
March has been a really slow month for me as far as Kibbe/personal sewing related things go. I did manage to finish the cardigan I started in February, New Look 6330, which was good. I feel like I at least haven’t been totally slacking as far as the whole “sewing challenge” thing goes, though my … More Sew Your Kibbe Challenge – March Round Up
The crazy month of travel has started, so I’ve gotten a bit behind on new pattern releases, but I did want to review the new Burda Plus magazine for Spring/Summer 2019. It seems that most of the recent Burda Plus issues have reprints from some of the more popular photo shoots in recent years, but … More Burda Plus Magazine Spring/Summer 2019
The spring releases keep rolling out, and the latest is from New Look! While I’ve convinced myself I don’t need to add any of this to my personal stash, I do think that overall this is a nice release. Let’s jump into it! N6593 – Not really a fan of the ruffle/puffy sleeves, but, overall, … More Spring 2019 New Look Patterns
Firstly, Happy Pi Day! Science and math nerds rejoice! Secondly, I sewed something! I had really hoped to get my first Sew Your Kibbe Challenge garment done in February after I had posted my initial plans, but a prolonged infection had me down and out for the better part of the past two weeks. Truth … More Pattern Review: New Look 6330
While I’ve been writing quite a bit about David Kibbe’s style system on the blog for the past few months, I have to openly admit I wasn’t working from the primary source at the time. With the book having something of a renaissance in recent years, along with a low supply on the secondary market, … More Book Review: David Kibbe’s Metamorphosis
To continue our tour of new pattern releases, here is the announcement of the Summer Special edition of My Image Magazine. You can flip through the whole issue here. I find that the styles in the Special editions are not as detailed as the styles in the regular issues (though it seems as though My … More Summer Special 2019 My Image Magazine
It feels so early, but the full preview of the April BurdaStyle Magazine is already up on the German site! My first impression of this issue was very meh, but I’m actually starting to find more to appreciate the longer I look at these designs. There’s lots to look at so let’s get started! First … More April 2019 BurdaStyle Magazine
