While I’ve been writing quite a bit about David Kibbe’s style system on the blog for the past few months, I have to openly admit I wasn’t working from the primary source at the time. With the book having something of a renaissance in recent years, along with a low supply on the secondary market, … More Book Review: David Kibbe’s Metamorphosis
To continue our tour of new pattern releases, here is the announcement of the Summer Special edition of My Image Magazine. You can flip through the whole issue here. I find that the styles in the Special editions are not as detailed as the styles in the regular issues (though it seems as though My … More Summer Special 2019 My Image Magazine
It feels so early, but the full preview of the April BurdaStyle Magazine is already up on the German site! My first impression of this issue was very meh, but I’m actually starting to find more to appreciate the longer I look at these designs. There’s lots to look at so let’s get started! First … More April 2019 BurdaStyle Magazine
In pattern release land it’s either nothing or way too much all at once. Last month the only new pattern release was the monthly Burda magazine, but March has barely started and we’ve already got new patterns from Butterick, Simplicity, BurdaStyle Magazine, and My Image. Clearly, there are a lot of posts coming to the … More Spring 2019 Simplicity Patterns

It’s really sad because I’d just finalized my plans for the Sew Your Kibbe Challenge when I came down with the plague. Whilst bedridden, I’ve been finding ways to … More Sew Your Kibbe Challenge – February Round Up
So a few weeks ago I posted several examples of how you could plan a capsule for the Sew Your Kibbe Challenge, using Soft Natural as an example. You may have noticed that many of these plans had quite a bit of overlap, not because Soft Natural options are limited (they aren’t), but because I’d … More Sew Your Kibbe Challenge: Final Capsule Plans
I’ve been using My Body Model to sketch out design ideas for a while now, and I’m a big fan of how helpful this simple tool can be in the sewing process. It’s easy to see how great clothes can look on a stretched, exaggerated fashion drawing or on a lithe supermodel, but it can … More My Body Model/Sew Your Kibbe Guest Post!
The March Burda is here and I’m so excited! This is one of those issues that, while it isn’t really giving us anything too new, I still want to make all of the things! I am really excited by so many of the styles they are including this month, but I’m also kind of surprised … More March 2019 BurdaStyle Magazine
One of the most requested posts since I started writing the Sew Your Kibbe Series was to identify which indie pattern brands would work best for the various Kibbe types. One of the reasons I didn’t want to use indie brands as part of the main series is because they often tend to have defined … More Indie Patterns for the Kibbe Types
