Geeky seamstress with too many ideas and not enough time. Costumes, cosplay, reading, cooking, crafting.
The first images from the July Burda have been posted to the Russian website. As I suspected, so far this issue doesn’t look to be quite as exciting as June. However, it also doesn’t look to be a total waste of pattern paper either. So far I am liking about half of the preview designs, … More Newsflash: July Burda Early Preview Posted
Butterick has released their summer patterns, which you can see here. I would say there are some fairly cute dress patterns, and a few good basics. Also some really boring shirts, generic sleepwear, and oversized ponchos, but you can check those out on your own. Not really anything outstanding, but probably at least a few … More Newsflash: New Butterick Patterns Announced
Last time we cut out our skating costumes, so that means we are finally ready to sew! I will be sewing my costumes using my regular techniques, with a mix of the serger and sewing machine. Ok, so today’s post is about what we are going to need to make our skating costumes. Since we are sewing something of a specialty item, there are a lot of particulars, but I expect you will probably already have a lot of them about your sewing space if you already sew. If you don’t … More Skating Dress Tutorial Part I: The Info Dump
So a few (well, more than a few…. sorry about that) months ago one of my readers had asked a few questions about my skating costumes, which I could have answered easily enough had I not been so busy at the national championships at the time. A question from one reader turned into a few … More Preface: Skating Dress Tutorial

I gave him a look and told him I had been sewing. A lot. Mostly for skating people who have been … More Using My Hobby to Pay for My Hobby
