Geeky seamstress with too many ideas and not enough time. Costumes, cosplay, reading, cooking, crafting.
The latest patterns from Simplicity and New Look are posted to the Simplicity website. I have to say I am a bit surprised because I actually like quite a few of the New Look patterns (or, well, I at least think they are well styled on the envelopes), where Simplicity was a total snooze fest. … More Newsflash: New Simplicity and New Look Patterns Announced
I don’t know why, but I can never find a digital preview of the Burda Style Classics online. I order the magazine anyway even though it requires a bit of faith that the patterns will turn out well. (I know last year a lot of people were disappointed with the patterns, since many of them … More Newsflash: Burda Classics 2013 Is Here!
The latest collection of McCall’s patterns can be seen here. Mostly a bunch of party dresses, with a few basic pants and skirts, and a lot of baggy tops. I don’t think this is quite as stylish as the Burda preview we saw yesterday (I was feeling a bit grumpy when I wrote it, so … More Newsflash: New McCall’s Patterns Announced
The German Burda website has posted the early preview of the November issue. I was hoping that we would be getting something that is a bit more interesting than the patterns from the previous few months. Kwik Sew used to be one of my favorite pattern companies. Their athletic patterns are the ones I use most often. Then McCall’s took over and things went downhill, fast. I can’t say that this release has turned things around, but I will say that I was pleasantly surprised. There is still a lot of … More Newsflash: New Kwik Sew Patterns Announced
I have had this review written for quite a while, sitting in the draft pile. Its been months since I actually sewed up this dress, but getting photos proved to be more difficult than I anticipated… Vogue 2960 – A Vintage Vogue reprint pattern. Last year my sister had asked me to make her a … More Pattern Review: Vogue 2960
Ok, even I have to admit that the weather is changing and eventually I will want to wear something other than a lightweight knit tank top. I decided to make a few more dresses (one for me, one for my sister) that are more suitable for spring than fall, since I have had the patterns … More Sewing Plans: The Transition to Fall Sewing
