Geeky seamstress with too many ideas and not enough time. Costumes, cosplay, reading, cooking, crafting.
One of my reading goals for this year is to keep up with the Sword & Laser book club picks, in the hopes that I can find fantastic new fantasy and sci fi authors, and read more diverse picks from the genre. The February book pick was A Wizard of Earthsea by Ursula K. Le Guin. … More Book Review: A Wizard of Earthsea
The Russian Burda website has posted the full preview of the Spring/Summer edition of the Burda Plus magazine. Half of the designs have been used previously in regular Burda magazines (BS-05-2012 and BS-07-2012), but I thought we should take a look at a few of the new designs… My favorite new designs for this issue … More Newsflash: Burda Plus Spring/Summer 2014 Full Preview Posted
I have been reading George R. R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire series for quite a while now, and I am happy to finally be caught up with the main books in the series. It’s a double preview day – both the German and Russian websites have posted the early preview photos for the March 2014 Burda magazine and the 2014 Spring/Summer Burda Plus magazine. Although I thought most of these patterns were rather basic, a surprising number already found their way home with me, so I guess … More Newsflash: Spring Simplicity Patterns Announced
Normally I don’t set out reading goals like I do for sewing and skating. Reading has always been fun, and I never want to make it feel like a task. Last year, however, my friend took me to a Geek & Sundry panel at WonderCon (a comics/general nerdiness convention), wherein I found The Sword & … More Book Review: The Einstein Intersection
The latest patterns from Butterick have been announced. I have to say that the Retro and designer patterns are fairly interesting this time around – I am swooning over a few of the Retro looks, for sure – but the rest of the designs are pretty boring. Let’s take a peak: First, the fun Butterick … More Newsflash: New Butterick Spring Patterns Announced
Burda Style Russia has posted the full preview of the February issue. Based on first impressions I wasn’t overly excited for this issue. Now that the full preview is here, I have to say my opinion has totally changed.
