In addition to the traditional Spring/Summer and Fall/Winter issues, this year My Image Magazine has also been doing special 10-piece editions each season. Here’s what we get in the Fall 2019 Special issue:

There aren’t a ton of images on the My Image website for this issue, but I think we can see enough from the covers and the line drawings. The special editions all seem to feature simpler garments and this one is no exception. In general I think a lot of these designs are really cute, but I also feel like I have a lot of similar styles between the Burda stash and other patterns I’ve picked up recently. As always I do think these special editions would be a great bargain if you wanted a pre-curated capsule sewing plan, as I think a lot of these pieces would mix and match very well.
What do you all think? See anything here that would make you excited to pick up the new My Image special issue? Or are the offerings too basic to be exciting? Feel free to discuss in the comments!
Like you say, there are many patterns similar to Burda ones here, not sure I would be picking this one up. Pretty basic patterns but My Image does a cool job (I think) of using different fabrics with their patterns…
Since you mention the capsule wardrobe thing, I’ve really been loving the idea of that… Love to Sew podcast is giving away a free little “workbook” of sorts, that takes a bit of the capsule idea. It’s a booklet designed to help you purge the clothes you don’t like or need anymore, and decide what to sew for your “dream wardrobe”. Using Pinterest, of course. Haven’t had time to try it yet, but the idea excites me…

That sounds cool! I’ll have to look into it.

The patterns look cute, and I agree, they are simple. I’ve never heard of this company before. Does this come in a printed copy or are these digital downloads? I also listened to the Love to Sew podcast about wardrobe planning, and it had a lot of great ideas. I also follow TomCatStitchery on YouTube. She does a series on sewing a capsule wardrobe that is very interesting and looks approachable. Happy sewing!

It is a printed magazine with the pattern tracing sheets on paper. In the regular issues you also get 3 free downloads of PDF patterns from their site.

I’m not sure. I might go check the shops in NL to see if they have it yet though… I bought the regular fall /winter magazine, I liked quite a few things in there, especially after seeing your roundup 😊

It would be nice if the page with the line drawings had a small note by each sketch on whether the fabric was stretchy or not, hefty or not. A minor irritation, and it may be they skip this to keep the page from feeling cluttered… given how many languages there are.
Their earlier mags had a few lines left blank underneath the instructions. I’ve only got one mag that has this, but it sure is nice to have a place to write down your personal fitting changes, knowing the notes won’t be misplaced.
Do you subscribe to multiple mags? Just Burda?
(not my business, I know, but just curious 🙂

Oops. Forgot to add, they do say what sort of fabrics are suitable… but only in the instructions.

I subscribe to Burda and My Image regular issues. I would subscribe to Knipmode or Patroness if it was easier to do so from the US.
