30 Minute Rey Cosplay

So a few weekends ago a friend of mine was having a Star Wars themed surprise birthday party.  This happened to be the friend I sat next to at the premiere of Star Wars: The Force Awakens.  So when I found out her boyfriend fiancé was planning her birthday engagement party and asking everyone to come dressed appropriately, I knew I wanted to do something a bit more elaborate than a t-shirt.  Of course, I didn’t have enough time to create a full Jedi costume, but I thought I could pull off Rey’s look fairly easily using a lot of wardrobe items I had on hand.

I found some amazing crinkled rayon gauze at a quasi-local Hancock’s Fabrics.  It has the most delicious drape. So I bought a lot of it, and finished off the edges to replicate Rey’s fabric wrapped look.  Everything else was thrown together from items in my wardrobe: a tank top, leggings, boots, a belt, a bag, and the ultimate fashion accessory, a lightsaber.

Best thing about this is that my friend was super excited to have a Rey at her party.

Not bad for 30 minutes, no?
