Geeky seamstress with too many ideas and not enough time. Costumes, cosplay, reading, cooking, crafting.
Dawn by Octavia E. Butler was chosen as the July book pick for the Sword & Laser book club. I’d never read any of her works before, but I’d heard good things, so I was excited. I’m happy to say that this story did not disappoint. Can we talk about this cover for a minute? Like, … More Book Review: Dawn (Xenogenesis Book #1)
Year Zero is a book I’d heard a lot of good things about from various sources on the internet. I bought the book on a whim (you know, when you need to get your Amazon cart up to $35 so you can get your free shipping), and it sat on my shelf for a while. I … More Book Review: Year Zero
Simplicity has got more new patterns available! Of course, these were posted to the Pattern Review website a while ago, and some lucky people already managed to snag them in a sale! They’ve only just been posted to the Simplicity website, and my local fabric stores don’t have them in yet. They’ve also got the … More Newsflash: Fall Simplicity & New Look Patterns!
Long time readers of my blog may recall that I visited the National Museum of Roller Skating back in 2012 – the last time nationals was held in Lincoln, Nebraska. I managed to get a quick visit in this trip too, and it was really fun to see the changes and new exhibits. Even the … More National Museum of Roller Skating – 2014 Visit

Aside from Self Stitched … More Sewing Things About the Internet

I want something with that neckline. Do we have any … More Newsflash: Fall/Winter Burda Plus Early Preview Posted
So my post the other day was a bit… melodramatic. Â I want to say thank you to everyone who has commented. Â I know I’m not the only one who has gone through crazy burn-out/quarter life crisis/less than fun life stuff, but it was still nice to hear advice from everyone who has dealt with similar … More Getting Over the Melodrama
Sorry for the rather whiny post yesterday… I’ve got a follow-up coming tomorrow, with some strategizing for the future, but let’s just say a week of doing absolutely nothing except binge-watching the second season of The Great British Sewing Bee Season 2, coupled with an introduction to the writings of Adele P. Margolis has helped … More Newsflash: September Burda Preview Posted
