Monthly Sewing Review – 2025 October Wrap Up

October is the first month in a long while where I haven’t had at least one weekend of travel, and it has been really nice to be at home, though it does feel like the month has gone by very quickly and that I haven’t been able to get as much done with the time at home as I would have hoped. Despite that, I have had a lot more time in the sewing room this month than most of the rest of this year, so overall I am still pretty happy with how much I have been able to accomplish this month.

Sewing Progress

I finally finished the first pattern in my great LilyPAD patterns comparison project, and I started work on some new patterns. The next pattern I plan to work on (the Labellum) is on hold, but I should be getting to it next month with any luck.

In the meantime, I have been working on some projects to wear to an event I am going to next month. I’ve traced off a new pattern, started cutting out a few things, and done a bit of sewing on the first project, but it’s been going in fits and starts so far. I am happy with how it’s going, but I definitely need to get the rest of it underway soon because November is fast approaching.

Sewing Delays

Although I haven’t had any travel this month, it has definitely felt like things at home have been pretty busy. I’ve been spending a lot of time helping friends with various projects and just kind of taking it easy. It’s been a nice change of pace, but I know there’s a lot I’m going to need to get back on top of come November.

Finished Projects

I finally finished the Lamina! I’m really happy with how it turned out and I enjoy wearing it because it’s super comfortable. I’m really looking forward to making the rest of the LilyPAD patterns I’m working on because I hope they will all end up being similarly comfortable.

WIPs & Upcoming Plans

Right now I’m working on my projects for next month (I’ll post more about them when they are finished). After that I’m planning to go back to my LilyPAD project. Then I might be at a bit of a crossroads. I definitely want to do a deep dive into the B,Wear patterns, but I’m also itching to make a coat, some pants, and try another stab at a button up shirt. I’m just going to see how much time and energy I have heading into the end of the year and go from there I think. Happy Halloween everyone!

  1. So enjoyed your adventures in Bra sewing. I have just gotten into sewing bras, and it’s addictive! We are similar in size so your reviews and insights have been particularly helpful to me. Thank you!

Also coincidentally, I just went through sewing a button-up shirt rabbit hole. For shirts with a stitched on top placket, David Coffins craftsy class was invaluable. He uses a burrito method. However, if you are doing a dressier shirt with a smooth front (with the placket on the inside, sort of as a facing), Ramona’s collar technique is the bomb! https://www.asg.org/sewing-a-collar-band-stand-and-cuff/ Once you see it, you can’t unsee that perfection. Her presentation is on the ASG members site, but there may be YouTubers of others demonstrating her technique.
