March has turned out to be quite a busy and very different month than I expected. I had hoped to get some sewing in before my schedule got super busy over the next few weeks, but, alas, it seems it was not really meant to be.
Sewing Progress
Honestly, not a lot. I’ve had piles of different projects on my cutting table for weeks, but I haven’t really made any notable progress on anything this month. I definitely need to finish some of these projects soon though; my project queue is getting quite stacked, and I’m ready to move on to new things.
Sewing Delays
This month has been particularly busy with sewing and non-sewing obligations. I spent a fair bit of time finalizing the class I had agreed to do for the Bra Sewing Bee, which is definitely sewing related, but not actual sewing. I know the time I spent on it will help me with my own upcoming and planned projects, but it still means I did a lot of work that didn’t result in finished garments. Outside of sewing, work has been quite busy, and I’ve also had some unexpected non-work obligations this month, which have been taking up a lot of time and a lot of energy. My other volunteer obligations have started coming in at full force, and my travel is going to have quite an uptick in the coming weeks, so I’m anticipating my sewing output might be relatively low until I’m closer to fall. So I’m going to be happy with what I’ve been able to produce so far this year, and I’ll see how much time and energy I have to work on things over the next few months.
Finished Projects
Nothing new to report; just the projects I finished in February but didn’t get around to posting until this month.

WIPs & Upcoming Plans
Most immediately I need to do some hemming and possible sew up a new dress. Though if I do sew a new dress it’ll be another version of McCall’s 8340 because that pattern is awesome, and who can’t use more knit twist front dresses? I definitely want to finish up all of the matching bottoms to go with the bras I sewed. I’m still planning to work on tweaking the fit on a few of these patterns, or testing the pattern with different materials. After that, I’m excited to try converting some of them into partial band bras, because that would be a new technique and new style for me to try sewing. I’ve also got a long list of patterns I want to try or re-try with the new fitting techniques I’ve learned. I’m not sure when I will have time to get to all of this, but it’s in my project wishlist for now. Aside from that, I also really need to take a look at the rest of my wardrobe and do some serious planning for that, because I’m tragically low on work-appropriate trousers and my work tops are starting to show their age. Plus, planning is kind of a fun thing to work on when you don’t have a lot of time or energy to actually be in the sewing room. I know all of these plans definitely exceed the time and energy I have to give to them over the next several months, but that’s what I’ve been thinking about lately, even if I haven’t had time to actually execute on any of these plans.

planning sewing is certainly the next best thing to sewing!
