Monthly Sewing Review – 2024 November Wrap Up

November has been an insane month! I knew it would be, but it doesn’t really lessen the crazy business of it all. I don’t have a lot of sewing to showcase this month, so it’s a pretty short recap this time around.

Sewing Progress

I intentionally didn’t start any new sewing projects this month because I was so busy with other things, so no real “progress” to post about this time. I was tempted by some of the sewing challenges in The Hive though… so I pulled out a few kits to work on next month, along with some mending I need to get around to.

Sewing Delays

This month was nothing but sewing delays, but I knew it would be that way even before the month began. I’ve been traveling nearly every weekend this month, and started a new job in the middle of all of that, which has been exciting but also mentally exhausting. I was tempted to start a project during the one weekend I was home, but thought it would be better to spend time getting other things in order, so I prioritized a bit and didn’t manage to sew anything new. Hopefully December will be a better month for me!

Finished Projects

This was really from October, but my sister said I could share her Halloween costumes (Gotham by Gaslight Batman and Poison Ivy), so here we go!

I also finished my burgundy velvet dress last month, but didn’t get around to doing a review post until this month, so I’ll add a few of those photos here as well.

WIPs & Upcoming Plans

I was really sad I didn’t get to participate in any of the November sewing challenges in The Hive, so I might try and do some make-up sewing in December, along with getting some of the mending projects out of my sewing space. I also want to take a look at my planning board and do a bit of reorganization and overhaul work there, in terms of alternating a bit more between sewing lingerie and sewing regular clothes. I also want to consider where I can do a bit of planning in terms of general ideas and not necessarily specific projects (by the time I get around to sewing metallic pants the trend will be over, but I’ve seen a few holiday images I’m a bit obsessed with right now). I’m also long overdue on cleaning and organizing my closet/room/wardrobe after the chaos of my closet falling apart and the laundry flood of last year, so it I do want to spend a bit of time sorting out my living space as well. Of course, I’ll also probably be quite tired from all of thing things I’ve been doing this month, so we’ll see how much energy I have to put into things when we get there. As typically happens in December, I’ll probably have a ton of sewing close to the end of the month, but right now I’m not really pushing for anything to happen and I’ll just see what I have the time and energy to tackle.
