Embarking on Insanity

So one of the reasons I’ve been so busy the past few months is that my very close friend (essentially family) is getting married.  Tomorrow.  Which means all the months of planning and preparations and dress fittings will soon be over.  (Just to get it out of the way – No I did not make the wedding dress or the bridesmaid dresses or the usherette dresses.  Nor did I do the alterations.  I was more than happy to pay someone else to do this thing because I did not want to deal with it.  It’s hilarious to me that other people complain about how much alterations cost.  I was plenty happy to shell out the cash just to avoid the headache of taking my dress in four sizes.  And, no, I didn’t lose weight.  They just ordered it that way.)

Anyway, all this is to say, that after tomorrow I’m going to have a few months with relatively few commitments.  I mean, not really, cuz it’s me, and my life is always busy, but it is going to be comparatively less busy than it has been the past few months.  And on top of this I’ve really had the sewing itch lately.  And then I saw the advertisement for this year’s Pattern Review Sewing Bee:

I don’t know why, but I’m feeling a strong urge to enter this contest this year.  Granted, I’ll likely be knocked out in the first round, but it’s been a while since I’ve participated in goings-on around the sewing blog-o-sphere, and I sort of want to jump back into the fray.  So I figure I’ll give it a shot and see how it goes.  At best I’ll have a month of insane sewing and blog posting; at worst I’ll use up some patterns and fabric from the stash.  It’s a total win either way.  Wish me luck – here I go!
