Burda Russia has just posted the early preview of the October issue, which you can look at here. After what I felt was a rather lackluster September, I was really hoping for a knockout issue in October. But now that I have seen the early preview? Well, I’m not holding my breath. Honestly, some of … More Newsflash: October Burda Early Preview Posted
Ok, so you may remember my first (and thus far only) installment of “What The Fabric?” where we collectively scratch our heads over some truly terrible fabric options. Well, it seems that someone has made a dress from it, and posted their creation to the English Burda Style website. If you want to look at … More Wait… Someone made a dress out of it?!?!
Ok, so this was supposed to be my birthday dress. My birthday was well over several months ago. So, umm, yeah. Ooops. The silly thing is that it remained unfinished because of a zipper insertion. And I was on the fence about hemming it (the fabric doesn’t fray and probably hangs better un-hemmed) and after having … More Pattern Review: Butterick 5886
The early preview of the 2013 Fall/Winter Burda Style has been posted to the Russian website, which you can check out here. It looks like most of the Burda Style Easy previews – lots of basic tops and skirts, but I do like some of the coats in the preview. It seems like color blocking … More Newsflash: Early Preview of Fall/Winter Burda Style Easy
Butterick has announced their latest collection of patterns – you can check them out here. All in all I have to say this is the best Big 4 collection we have seen for fall this year. There are a lot of cute dresses, some nice coat and jacket options, and possibly the only maternity pants … More Newsflash: New Butterick Patterns Announced
Well, I was planning to sew from and NOT add to my stash. Ooops. Silly online sales of awesome tempted me. And amazing fabric finds from LA. What can I say. I am weak. Of course, to be entirely fair, my posting is also a bit backlogged, so this is really several months worth of fabric buying. … More Fabric Gluttony: So Much for Minimizing the Stash
I have been posting photos of my trip to and from Albuquerque. Of course, being me, while I was there I had to visit every fabric store in the city! Oh, and I managed to get in a side trip to Santa Fe as well. All in all I managed to visit four fabric stores, … More Tales from the Road: New Mexico Fabric Finds
The final stop on the road home was a bit out of the way – Grand Canyon National Park. The Grand Canyon is one of those things that is so iconic it was a bit surreal being there. It (obviously) looks quite a bit like the pictures and images that are so prevalent, but the … More Tales from the Road: Grand Canyon National Park
Ok, I don’t think this has been officially announced (since I have been stalking the Simplicity website, and the main page of the German website only mentioned the early preview), but as has been indicated by the inside cover of the most recent Burda magazines, it seems that the full collection can be seen on … More Newsflash: Burda 2013 Fall/Winter Pattern Collection
The next stop on my adventure to the 2013 National Roller Skating Championships is the Petrified Forest National Park. I have to say that this was probably my favorite stop on the trip. The first several viewpoints (north of the I-40) overlook the Painted Desert, which is a pretty view, but somewhat reminiscent of the … More Tales from the Road: Petrified Forest National Park
