Monthly Sewing Review – 2026 January Wrap Up

It’s been a month and 2026 is already off to a crazy start. There’s been a lot going on in the real world, and it’s certainly a weird time to try and balance the emotions around that and caring about personal things that seem really trivial, like sewing progress. But I do appreciate having these monthly round ups as time stamps of what’s been going on, even if what’s been going on is not great. So I am going to keep on posting with my monthly wrap-up schedule as much as I can, even if I don’t have much to say and even if a lot of energy is focused elsewhere.

Sewing Progress

After the intense levels of sewing that happened in December, January has been pretty quiet. I finished one project very early and then had a trip that has taken up most of my time and energy this month. I have a few next projects picked out, but I haven’t had time to start work on them yet. Maybe in February…

Sewing Delays

All of the non-sewing things I put off in December have definitely demanded attention now that I’ve hit January, and I was gone for over a week this month. I have definitely shifted focus off of sewing, but I really want to at least work on fitting a few things in February, even if I can’t finish any full projects.

Finished Projects

I made my second Black Beauty set early this month while we were still rolling out of the holidays. It was fun working with materials that are a bit different than my usual default materials, and I really love the colors of this kit from Emerald Erin. It’s not a lot of completed sewing, but, honestly, if I can get one project done a month this year I’ll be really happy with that.

WIPs & Upcoming Plans

I’m really interested in re-fitting some of my early favorite bra patterns (such as the Cashmerette Willowdale and the B,Wear patterns) which are now a bit small or I’ve come to realize have other fit issues, despite still being some of my go-tos, as well as testing out some new-to-me patterns underwear from a few of those brands. I’m also curious to test the new Beverly Johnson patterns and class and will hopefully do a review on those as well. Obviously, I won’t have time for all of this in February, but I’ll see how much I get done and will try to keep on top of posting to the blog too so that I don’t end up with a backlog of posts coming out in November and December like I did last year.
