Monthly Sewing Review – 2024 December Wrap Up

I had practically no travel plans this month so I assumed I’d get a lot of sewing done but alas, it was not ment to be. I am happy to report, however, that I’ve reorganized my sewing space a bit so I haven’t been completely out of the crafting loop. But although I have a lot of in progress sewing projects, I don’t have a lot of finished items to wrap up the year.

Sewing Progress

Probably the biggest project I worked on this month was organizing my sewing space. I had to move all my patterns out due to housework earlier this year, and I’ve finally moved them all back. There’s more work to be done organizing and sorting my overflowing fabric stash, but I’m happy the patterns are finally in place and I’ve been able to start putting back my other organization units in a way that should make it easier for me to access things when I need them.

I also worked on some more men’s underwear prototypes. This time I tried the Lillebror pattern from the PUG pattern packet. I tried the optional sling on the inside, but I think that feature is getting vetoed for the final version.

I also got back to working on/fitting my self-drafted band and the various cup patterns I’ve fit into it. I need to make a few modifications on my older patterns to account for the wire spring, but overall the fitting process is going well.

I also started working on another Mysa bralette. Now that I have a better understanding of my sizing in LilyPADesigns patterns, I thought I’d try the smaller size and see if it’s more supportive or comfortable than the larger size that I’d been using.

I did find time to (finally) add a red bow to my Maya bra. I had to order some and the other part of my order took a while to fill, so it’s been going bow-less for a bit, but I felt like I’ve been wearing it enough that it was a bow worthy project.

And I’ve got a lot of projects planned and waiting to go… I just got stalled because of the organizational chaos and the fitting updates.

Sewing Delays

Probably the biggest delay this month was starting my new job, as well as the cleaning and organizing of the sewing space. Although my job doesn’t take any more hours than my previous job, there’s a certain level of mental taxation it takes to learn something new, and it’s been hitting hard this month. Plus just the effort of the holidays and all the extra stuff (like baking) that happens because of them.

I’ve also just generally been tired and the insanity of just how much I’ve done this year really took its toll on my overall energy levels. I think I probably needed the month to rest, but now I am itching to get back in the sewing room more regularly because I’ve got a lot of projects stacked up and waiting to get sewn.

Finished Projects

Nothing finished this month, but hopefully this means I’ll have projects to share in January!

WIPs & Upcoming Plans

Right now I’m working on getting caught up on some Hive challenges (holiday bra, party bra, and comfy bra), and I’ve got fabric and plans for all of them. I’ve also got some gift sewing to get caught up on, and new patterns I want to try. Basically my sewing plans board is overflowing with ideas, so I’m going to see how much I can get through before I decide what else I want to add! Eventually I want to get back to the Vogue designer dress (because I have all the materials for it), but I’m not going to prioritize that for January; I’d like to try and get through some smaller and quicker projects first.
