Last year I bought the BRAdvent Box from Bra Builders and I had so much fun opening the packages every day that I knew I wanted to do it again this year. I think this will be a fun holiday tradition for me because I love having an advent calendar that is full of useful things and beautiful materials and colors.
After last year’s box I knew a bit better what to expect this year, but I was still excited to have a little gift to open every day this month. One of the most fun things about this box is watching as the different colors and materials start to give hints about what you can create.

Like last year I’ve been doing a daily photo document of my packages, so I’ve got an image of what I got every day, plus an extra picture of the underwires and cotton materials that weren’t in a daily package but were part of the box. I got a mix of many different kinds of elastics and fabrics, from stretch lace and bamboo jersey to microlycra and microduoplex. Here is what I got in my Bra Builders BRAdvent Box this year:

Another year where I’m really pleased with everything in the box. I asked for a few different things this year, and the contents of the box definitely reflect that, but there is still a lot to have fun with. There are three distinct color groupings: the first is a teal/purple/cream with lots of elastics for both bras and underwear and a floral lace that ties all the colors together. The second is a blue color-way with a mix of light blue and navy fabrics and trim that will be a bralette and underwear set. Finally there is the burgundy and grey color story which ties together with the bamboo print.

I will be honest and say that last year’s box was more “me” and I’ve been treating those materials as too precious to use (I’m just about to break into my first sets from last year because I finally feel like I have patterns that fit well enough to justify cutting into such beautiful materials), but I actually think I might use the contents of this year’s box more quickly. I really like these colors and the combinations of everything, but it doesn’t feel quite as precious and I’m not afraid to cut into them and use them. I’m also excited to try the different laces and elastics that were included that I haven’t used before. I have a lot of sewing to do!

This year I also gave my sister the Christmas gift of her own BRAdvent box. Her color story is really fun and very different from mine!

Happy BRAdvent to all and to all a fun sew!
