I honestly can’t believe October is over already. This month flew. I’ve been super busy at work this month, but I’ve also been sewing a lot to deal with stress lately, so I actually got more done this month than I expected.
Sewing Progress
This was a really great month for me! I finished my second Willowdale bra set right at the end of September, and then I spent most of October working on self-drafted patterns. I’ve documented this process quite a bit in my past few posts, but at this point I have a pretty good self-drafted band and cup pattern along with a pretty decent idea about my ideal wire size, and a plan to make some minor tweaks to try and get my “perfect” fit in my next bra. I also managed to get another basic underwear set out in the past few days, and I altered my first sample self-drafted underwear to make it actually wearable, so I’ve had a lot of new undergarments to wear this month, which has been fantastic! Nothing like wearing a bunch of custom sewn clothes to make you realize how much you want to phase out the store bought stuff…

Sewing Delays
This month has been super crazy with work, so I’ve definitely lost a few sewing days to that. I’ve also got a lot of other projects I should have been working on, but when it came time to find energy to work on projects, I kept having enough time to work on pattern tweaks in odd increments and not enough time to really dive into the intense work I need to do on my other projects. They need to get done soon though, so I definitely need to put sewing on the back burner for a bit in November. However, there are a lot of holidays next month, so I’m hoping to spend Black Friday sewing up some of my early holiday gifts to myself, some of the fancy bra kits from Bra Builders.
Finished Projects
This month I had 4 new garments, 1 altered garment, and a lot of pattern drafting, so I will consider that a total win, even though all of these garments are relatively small, since they are all underwear.

WIPs & Upcoming Plans
Currently I’m working on making all of the minor pattern adjustments to my self-drafted bra that I noted after wearing my Vanilla Latte Self-Draft/Willowdale for a few days. I’m thinking about how I want to design my next version of the bra, and plan to sew that soon. After that I might make another version in foam or move on to testing some different patterns. I would still like to make a Sahaara at some point; I just think that pattern is going to take some decent work in fitting before I dive into using the materials I have for it. After that, well, I am actually sort of hurting for proper work clothes. I definitely want to sew tons of bras and underwear now that I feel like I have some really great pattern options, but I think I might soon be hitting the point where I need other garments more. We shall see how much I get done in November; I’m sure my output will be a lot less than October and my level of output will definitely influence what sort of sewing projects I’m working on the rest of the year.
